Its gauntlet mitts, hats, mukluks and parkas are articles of apparel and clothing accessories of furskin, HTS 4303.10.00 on the CBP Section 338 list, carrying an additional 50% duty since August 22, 2026, and the dressed otter and fisher pelts it sells alongside them fall under HTS 4302.19.30, which the September 8 White House annex adds at 50% from September 15, 2026 — so a CA$695 beaver gauntlet and a CA$295 otter pelt both cross the border at half again their price. MPC sells what it calls "Immersive Mystery & Puzzle Games Delivered to Your Door", boxed puzzle experiences that fall under HTS 9503.00.00, the toys and puzzles of all kinds line on the CBP Section 338 list, which carries a 50% additional duty on entry to the United States, in effect since August 22, 2026. On the US$225 HASTUR crate that is roughly US$112 in duty before shipping, and on a US$75 Dead Man's Tale about US$38. David Shaw and a shop of six build one-off wood-and-resin furniture in Muskoka: live-edge dining tables, a custom waterfall walnut desk, credenzas and shelves, king beds with nightstands, Murphy-bed wall units, media centres, kitchen counters and stair treads, cut from majestic maple, walnut, white oak and spalted maple.

Wooden dining tables, desks, credenzas, shelving and media centres are other wooden furniture, HTS 9403.60.80, and the shop's king beds and nightstands are wooden bedroom furniture, HTS 9403.50.90; both lines carry an additional 50% US duty under Section 338, in effect since August 22, 2026. Those duties land on real orders: in a Woodworking Canada profile written before the duty, David Shaw said "And in California we have a lot of clients we deal with directly" and "we ship it directly to them and we give them the white-glove treatment". On a live-edge and resin dining table the shop values at $10,000, the 50% duty is $5,000 before freight. In the old village schoolhouse at Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, two papetiers pull cotton sheets by hand at a vat — "deux tonnes de coton par année pour une production de 40 000 feuilles de papier" — then turn them into the boutique's goods: hand-folded envelopes, "Les enveloppes de papier Saint-Gilles 100% coton sont faites au tamis ensuite pliées et collées à la main une par une"; a $49.95 Cahier de poésie, "Cahier à couverture souple de texture « dentelle » contenant 24 pages 7x10 avec rabat et corde pour le tenir fermé"; soft-bound Cahiers Faune et Flore; loose 220 and 450 gsm writing and artist sheets; and screenprints and reproductions by Charlevoix artists printed on the same paper.

Envelopes of paper are HTS 4817.10.00 and bound notebooks are HTS 4820.10.20, both on the CBP Section 338 list at a 50% additional duty since August 22, 2026. So the hand-folded envelopes and the hand-bound cahiers this Charlevoix mill sells now cost an American buyer half as much again at the border, while the loose cotton sheets that are its signature fall under handmade paper, a line the list does not touch.
