Brothers Marc and Réal Michaud fill a Jarvis, Ontario storefront with dozens of wooden games — a $199.95 crokinole board, cribbage boards from $24.95, chess, Chinese checkers, Snakes & Ladders, Rummoli, Dice Poker — and a smaller line of hardwood boxes: felt-lined jewelry boxes in cherry or walnut at $34.95, two- and three-inch trinket boxes, and a rock maple seven-day pill box.

Michaud’s felt-lined jewelry boxes, trinket boxes and pill boxes are caskets and cases for jewelry and similar articles of wood, HTS 4420.90.80 on the CBP Section 338 list, and have carried a 50% duty into the United States since August 22, 2026 — roughly $17 on a $34.95 box. Michaud has stopped sending anything south at all: its contact page answers "Do you ship to the USA?" with "Unfortunately, we are not shipping to the USA at this time due to ongoing customs, tariff, and border issues." The notice is undated and does not name the measure; in October 2025 the shop was still shipping to the US and warning of a 25% tariff collected on delivery, and no shipping restriction appeared on its home page as late as June 11, 2026.

A wooden jewellery casket is named in HTS 4420.90.80, "caskets and cases for jewelry or cutlery and similar articles, of wood", on the CBP Section 338 list.
