Isabelle Auger has been bending Canadian wood veneer into lamps in a Grover building studio on rue Parthenais in Montreal since 2010 — the ALBA, PERLA, PERA and FLORA collections of hanging lamps, PETULA wall lamps, and sixteen plug-in table lamps topping out at $330, among them the eleven-inch Alba at $250, oak veneer over a solid wood base with an eight-foot cord, switch and plug — shapes drawn from flowers, fruit, bulbs and nuts.
Atelier Cocotte's table lamps — wood veneer bodies on solid wood bases, wired with a cord, switch and plug and an E12 socket that takes any bulb up to a 60-watt equivalent — are electric table lamps not of base metal and not designed for use solely with LED sources, HTS 9405.29.80, which Annex II of the September 8 proclamation adds to the Section 338 list at a 50% additional duty on goods entered "on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern time on September 15, 2026". On the $250 Alba lamp in oak that is $125 in duty before shipping.
