Miranda Jordan paints everything freehand in a Cole Harbour home studio: 67 original mixed-media miniatures on watercolour paper at $25, resin-finished cradleboard paintings such as the $225 Blue Cat Painting and the $235 Clock Lobster, and 95 hand-painted accent lamps made from repurposed bottles fitted with LED string lights on a USB switch, plus candle holders and suncatchers.

Paintings and drawings executed entirely by hand are HTS 9701.91.00 on the CBP Section 338 list, so Jordan’s cradleboard paintings and her 2.5 x 3.5 inch watercolour-paper miniatures carry a 50% duty into the United States, in effect since August 22, 2026; her glass accent lamps join them under HTS 9405.21.80 when the list expands on September 15, 2026. She stopped shipping south the day the first duty landed — her shipping page reads “As of August 22, 2026, shipping to the USA has been suspended indefinitely” — and told CBC News on September 4, 2026 that the ever-changing rules and shipping restrictions, not the duty itself, are why she quit the market.

As of August 22, 2026, shipping to the USA has been suspended indefinitely. I simply can’t keep up with the ever-changing U.S. government requirements, so I’ve decided that, for now, it’s no longer worth the hassle. I will resume shipping to the USA if and when sanity is restored.
