Marianne and Matt Gee keep bees on River Road in Ottawa and jar their own wildflower honey there, selling it beside creamed honey, honeycomb and raspberry, blueberry, linden, marsh and buckwheat varieties from a farm shop, a Sussex Drive store and Canada-wide shipping.

Gees Bees sells "Pure Canadian Wildflower Honey", creamed honey and honeycomb, which are natural honey under HTS 0409.00.00 on the CBP Section 338 list and have carried a 50% US duty since August 22, 2026. The shop's own policy page says "We do not currently offer international shipping", so nothing crosses the border through its checkout today and the duty reaches its jars only through buyers who carry them. Sam and her mum, Mama Lily, hand-knit made-to-order Christmas stockings in six styles out of Cochrane, Alberta — Themed and Custom Mash Up at CA$155, Cable Knit, Vintage Holiday, Fair Isle and Nordic Inspired at CA$145, plus matching mini pet stockings at $80 — each drawn up from scratch with the buyer's own colours, names and motifs and knit over 20 to 30 hours.

A hand-knit Christmas stocking is an article for Christmas festivities under HTS 9505.10.25, a line on the CBP Section 338 list — CBP put a knitted-fabric Christmas stocking on exactly that subheading in ruling N323824 — so every stocking Lily N' Stitch ships to an American family now carries a 50% duty on top of the price, in effect since August 22, 2026. On the shop's own CA$155 themed stocking that is about $77.50 in duty on a piece that took 20 to 30 hours to knit, and the shop quotes one flat cross-border rate for it: "There is a $20 flat rate for Canadian and US orders, with orders over $400 shipping free." Solomon and Marissa McCann build made-to-order solid hardwood furniture in a home wood shop just north of Calgary: dining tables from the $3,465 Wrenley up to the $6,015 Empire, Lida and Maia coffee tables, the Soleil cabinet, Hygge and Soleil nightstands and the $4,530 Kaden bedframe, each cut from red oak, maple, ash, white oak or black walnut, stained to the buyer's choice, on a ten to fourteen week lead time.

Out Of The Woodwork's dining tables, coffee tables and cabinets are other wooden furniture under HTS 9403.60.80, and its bedframes and nightstands are wooden bedroom furniture under HTS 9403.50.90; both lines sit on the CBP Section 338 list carrying a 50% additional duty in effect since August 22, 2026. The McCanns' FAQ says "because we are a small, custom company we do ship to the USA however customs broker fees are at the expense to the client as well as shipping / crating costs which can range from approx $2500-$4500 depending on the piece", so a $4,530 Kaden bedframe crossing to an American buyer now carries roughly $2,265 in duty on top of the price, the crating and the broker fees. Wooden dining tables, desks, credenzas, shelving and media centres are other wooden furniture, HTS 9403.60.80, and the shop's king beds and nightstands are wooden bedroom furniture, HTS 9403.50.90; both lines carry an additional 50% US duty under Section 338, in effect since August 22, 2026. Those duties land on real orders: in a Woodworking Canada profile written before the duty, David Shaw said "And in California we have a lot of clients we deal with directly" and "we ship it directly to them and we give them the white-glove treatment". On a live-edge and resin dining table the shop values at $10,000, the 50% duty is $5,000 before freight.
